STRUTHERS, Ohio — The Butler Township Gold Colt baseball team won its first game in Colt World Series Regional play Thursday, defeating McCandless, 5-4, then followed up with a 7-3 triumph over Hagerstown, Md., Friday.

In Thursday's game, Tony Campbell had a triple, a single and three RBI while Vinnie Schmidt tripled. Starting pitcher Joe Marak got the victory.

C.J. Miller pitched the middle three innings and Mason McLaughlin pitched the final frame for the save.

Against Hagerstown, McLaughlin was the winning pitcher while Schmidt earned the save and also doubled and tripled.

Butler Township will face Pittsburgh-based DeHaven at 7 p.m. Saturday in the King's seat game.

YORK — The Great Lakes Senior Division baseball team — consisting of numerous Butler County players — dropped a 2-1 decision to the Capitol Region team recently in the Keystone State Games.Alec Bollinger of Butler pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and striking out six in the loss. Jake Keifer of Seneca Valley had a single and an RBIwhile Dave Schmidt of Butler and Josh Weitzel of Slippery Rock contributed singles.

The UAA12-year-old all-star baseball team recently won the East Butler and Natrona Heights tournaments and placed second in the Saxonburg tournament.The team's record is 13-4.Team members include Michael Riley, Nathan Weckerly, Zach Moore, Dan Filges, Tyler Kepple, Lucas Booher, Colton Cumberland, Wyatt Everetts, Alex Flick, Matt Yough and Tyler Pollack.

FOXBURG — The East Butler 9- and 10-year-old All-Star baseball team dropped an 11-7 decision to DuBois in the second game of a four-game round robin format at the Little League Section 1 Tournament Friday.EastButler (1-1) will play Meadville at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

SAXONBURG— Brooke Hiles had a triple and two RBIand Natalie Ealy was the winning pitcher in relief as Chicora Photo Lodge defeated Saxonburg Maltese Design, 3-0, in the Alle-Kiski 15-and-under Fast-Pitch Softball League championship game at Laura Doerr Park recently.Kara Kerschbaumer contributed a double for the winners. Other team members were Amanda Shay, Alexandra Boyle, Ceanca Everetts, Ashlyn Landgraf, Autumn Earley, Alyssa King, Lauren Downs and Sabrina Johns.Angie Reddick struck out 13 batters in five innings for Saxonburg while Amber Steinheiser and Bethany Schmidt both had hits.
