Nellie Louise Brookes

Nellie Louise Brookes, 86, of Butler passed away Thursday at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born June 8, 1931, in Butler to the late William Richard Ross and the late Mary Cecelia Heinz.

Nellie worked as an events coordinator at Tanglewood and in the clerical department at Magnetics.

She was a member of the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania. Nellie enjoyed bird watching and flower gardening. She loved her dogs and enjoyed coordinating family reunions.

Nellie is survived by one son, Randy Blackburn of Cody, Wyo.; one daughter, Elaine Huselton of Navarre, Fla.; three grandchildren, Steven Huselton of Brandon, Miss., David Huselton of Slippery Rock and Michael Huselton of Akron, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, David Huselton Jr., Christina Huselton, Kimberly Huselton and Vanick Huselton; one great-great granddaughter, Serenity Huselton; one aunt, Tillie Milich of Butler; many nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Brookes, who she married Aug. 17, 1966, and who passed away Nov. 30, 1992; two sisters, Betty Decenzo and Mary Jane Bujak; and one brother, Richard Ross.
