Glenn M. Spithaler

Glenn M. Spithaler, 89, of Adams Township, Valencia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 29, 1931, in Bakerstown, he was the son of the late Walter and Sara Ramsey Spithaler.

Glenn was a member and elder of Mars Alliance Church, now LifePointe Alliance Church, where he had been the Sunday school treasurer and trustee. He also served as head usher, greeting people at the church doors with his cheerful welcome.

He was also a life-member of the Valencia VFD, now Adams Area Fire District.

Glenn was employed by North Pittsburgh Telephone Co. for 40 years.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1950.

Surviving are a daughter, Colleen Stephan (Clete), and a son, Martin Spithaler (Barbara), both of Adams Township, Valencia.

He was the grandfather of Adam Spithaler (Jamie), Grant Spithaler, Janelle Hilscher (Jay) and Ryan Stephan (Stephanie); and the great-grandfather of Isaac, Amelia, Levi, Evelyn, Reid, Aria and Ethan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June N. Spithaler, whom he married on Aug. 22, 1953, and who died on June 8, 2020; his brothers, Paul, Ralph and Raymond Spithaler; and a sister, Lois Andres.

SPITHALER — A private family viewing will be held for Glenn M. Spithaler, who died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020.There will be a memorial service at a later date.Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Warrendale.Arrangements are under the direction of McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.Memorials may be made to LifePointe Alliance Church.Condolences are available at www.mcdonald-aeberli.com.
