Man pleads guilty
An East Butler man will spend 15 to 40 months in prison for distributing child pornography.
Christopher C. Lorenz, 44, pleaded guilty to the charges that were filed in 2014 by the state Attorney General’s Child Predator Section.
According to court records, agents from the office were doing an online investigation when they discovered an explicit video file being shared by Lorenz’s IP address. An investigation revealed another file also was shared by the same address.
The files depicted girls under the age of 13 engaged in sexual acts, according to court documents.
Investigators were able to connect the IP address to Lorenz’s home through Armstrong Cable Service records.
At his home, investigators found a desktop computer, two laptops, and multiple media storage devices.
Apparent child pornography files were found on the desktop.
Butler County Judge William Shaffer on Thursday sentenced Lorenz, who received credit for the six days he already served in prison awaiting the outcome of the case.
In addition to the prison time, Lorenz must serve 84 months of probation.
Lorenz was interviewed by a member of the state’s Sexual Offender Assessment Board who determined he does not meet the criteria to be a sexually violent predator. Still, under state law Lorenz is required to register his whereabouts for the rest of his life.
