John C. Tassey
John C. Tassey, 74, of Butler passed away Saturday at the Butler Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born June 26, 1942, in New Bethlehem, the son of the late James and Mary Gallagher Tassey.
John retired from ARMCO after 37 years of service as a reserve assignor. He had attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. John was a life member of American Legion Post 117. He belonged to the Sheffield VFW, the William H. Miller Masonic Lodge 769, Elks 170, New Castle Consistory and Syria Shrine and had been past president of Butler Caravan 14. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, whom he married May 25, 1973, Toni Yost Tassey of Butler; his daughter, Tawnilyn Rich; his grandson, Cody Rich; his granddaughter, Shalei Rich; his great-granddaughter, Paisley, all of Venice, Fla.; his brothers, James F. Tassey and Edward (Susan) Tassey; his brother-in-law, John Lorenz; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Vonnie Neigh, all of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Patricia Lorenz.
TASSEY — Friends of John C. Tassey, who died Saturday, June 3, 2017, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at the Gruenwald Cemetery.
