Susan Elaine Huff
Susan Elaine (Beatty) Huff, 68, of Naples, Fla., passed away Friday at home surrounded by family and friends from endometrial cancer.
Born Sept. 18, 1946, in New Castle, she was the middle daughter of F. Merle Beatty and Josephine (Allen) Beatty of Eau Claire.
Susan graduated from Moniteau High School. She also graduated from Clarion State College with a bachelor's degree.
Susan married Dennis A. Huff at the Church of God in Butler and is survived by him. Dennis and Susan had lived in Greenville, Eau Claire, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Naples, Fla., throughout her life.
Susan was a loving, witty and gentle soul, who fought a courageous battle until the end.
Susan had worked at J.M. Beatty Automotive in Eau Claire, as a librarian at the Mid-Western State University in Wichita Falls, Texas and at Wichita Supply in Wichita Falls. She was co-owner of Schlotzsky's Restaurant in Naples, Fla. She also worked at the Collier County Clerk of Courts and at the Naples Medical Center Business Office, both in Naples, Fla.
Susan's hobbies included German shepherds, horses, playing online Pogo and enjoying science fiction books and movies, especially the Star Trek series. Susan and Dennis were also avid boaters, often enjoying cruising the Gulf of Mexico aboard their vessel.
Susan, who was preceded in death by her parents, is survived by her husband, Dennis Huff; her older sister, Judith Shelton of Cincinnati, Ohio; her younger sister, Lorrie Curry of Fort Myers, Fla.; her nieces, Shari Fox of Galera, Ohio, Sheli Kepple of Orange City, Fla., Shana Cronin of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jessica Curry of Bonita Springs, Fla.; her nephews, Adam Curry of Norfolk, Va., and Eric Curry of Fort Myers, Fla.; her grandnieces, Brielle Fox, Jacquelyn Kepple, Raquelle Kepple, Makenna Curry, Zoe Cronin and twins, Alexis and Natalie Curry Gillern; and her grandnephews, Brandon Fox, Zachary Cronin and Grayson Curry.
HUFF — A memorial service for Susan Elaine (Beatty) Huff, who died Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, was held Saturday, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Naples Funeral Home, 3107 Davis Blvd., Naples, FL 34104.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL, 34105.
