Harold Leroy Brandon, 95, of Bonita Springs, Fla., passed away on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at Joanne’s House at Hope Healthcare in Bonita Springs, following an extended illness.

He was born on June 7, 1927, in Harrisville, to Alfred Whitten Brandon and Aline Dickson Brandon.

Harold served in the Merchant Marine, and retired in June 1987 from the Cooper Bessemer Corporation after 43 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Kay) Schmidt, whom he married in July 1971. They moved to Bonita Springs in 1991, where he was active in the First United Methodist, Imperial Bonita Estates, and the men’s shuffleboard league. Before moving to Florida, Harold and Catherine were active members of the Highland United Presbyterian Church of Slippery Rock.

Also surviving are a daughter, Tracy L. Brandon of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two sons, William Dean Brandon and his partner, Jamie, of Grove City, and James Emery Brandon and his wife, Deborah, and their daughter, Miranda May, of Slippery Rock; two stepchildren, Kathy Bowser of Sebring, Fla., and Emil Schmidt of Butler; and a brother, Donald Brandon of Castle Hot Springs, Ariz.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his eldest son, Thomas Leroy Brandon; a grandson, Sean Brandon; four sisters, Mary (Wiedenhofer), Laurabelle (Long), Annie (Riley), and Erla Jane (Hinds); and four brothers, Everett, Robert, Lewis and Alfred (Dick).

BRANDON — There will be no public visitation or funeral services at this time for Harold Leroy Brandon, who died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date to honor his life.
