Robert Gombash, 88, of Butler passed away on Saturday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born Oct. 16, 1929, in Goff, Butler County, he was a son of the late Robert and Pearl Katie Boda Gombash.

A 1948 graduate of Butler High School, Bob was employed for 43 years as a tractor operator in the coil warehouse at Butler Armco.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

He belonged to the Armco Retirees Golf League, the Slovak Club and the Sons of American Legion Post 778.

He is survived by his wife, Nina Schontz Gombash, whom he married Sept. 16, 1955, in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church; two children, Marcy Rutemiller and her husband, John, of Annapolis, Md., and Alex Gombash and his wife, Rosemarie, of Norfolk, Va.; two step-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by one sister; and one brother.
