Dorothy Madeline Mattox Mitchell, 99, of Cranberry Township, was granted her angel wings on Wednesday Aug. 31, 2022, with family and friends by her side.

Born Nov. 29, 1922, in Roanoke, Va., she was the daughter of the late William Davis Mattox and Bettie Snow Mattox.

Dorothy lived a long and full life. She loved her Lord and Savior, family and friends, cooking, flowers and doing crafts.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Mitchell; two sons, Dennis Ray, and William Bruce (Bill) Mitchell and 13 siblings. Her only surviving brother also passed within 24 hours of her death.

She leaves behind many who love and will miss her including her daughter, Sara Henley Cranston; daughters-in-law, Carol Mitchell, and Janice Blackwood; grandchildren, Tim (Susan), Jennifer (John), Penny, Chris (Stephanie), Tabatha (Fred), Amy (Brian) and Jerry (Andrea); 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Arla Jean, Alysha, Joanna and Jenn.

MITCHELL — A celebration of life service for Dorothy Madeline Mattox Mitchell, who died Wednesday Aug. 31, 2022, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church, 4765 S. Pioneer Road, Allison Park, with the Rev. Lee Sexton officiating.

A graveside celebration of life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Va.
