Anita W. Maffei
Anita W. Maffei, 94, formerly of Butler and Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospice of Concordia, Cabot.
She was born on Jan. 3, 1921, in Cumberland, Md., daughter of the late Frank J. and Leota White Samson.
Anita lived in Butler and Tarentum, as well as Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Anita was a homemaker and a cafeteria worker and for a number of years was the co-owner of Maffei's Tavern in Tarentum.
Mrs. Maffei attended the Holy Martyrs Church in Tarentum and the Basilica of St. Mary in Marietta, Ohio.
Anita was a graduate of Rayon High School in Youngstown, Ohio. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, bingo, reading, trips to the casino, and especially visits to her family.
Anita is survived by her daughter, Babetta “Babs” (John) Douglass of Marietta, Ohio; her son-in-law, David A. Jones of Butler; her grandchildren, Stacee Jones and Todd Leutholt of Denville, N.J., Adrienne Douglass and Boneita Thompson of Centreville, Va., J. Benjamin Douglass of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Capt. Anthony (Stephanie) Douglass of Columbus, Ohio, and her several great-grandchildren, Mayumi Douglass, Myles, Aliah and Maxwell Thompson, and Josephine Douglass.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merle E. Maffei; her daughter, Tracie A. Jones, and her brother, Frank B. Sampson.
Maffei — Visitation for Anita W. Maffei, who passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Duster Funeral Home, 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum.A blessing service will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, followed by a Christian funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum, with the Rev. Aaron J. Kriss officiating. Interment will be in Mt.
