Mary R. Hindman
Mary R. Hindman, 93, of East Brady, formerly of Chicora, passed away following a brief illness at 9:47 p.m. Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Hindman was born in Donegal Township on Nov. 13, 1918. She was the daughter of James and Rose Maley Brownfield.
She was a longtime member of the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora. After moving to East Brady, Mrs. Hindman attended the St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church.
Mary was an avid animal lover. She especially enjoyed feeding the birds, as well as the company of her pet cat and hamster. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and reading.
Mrs. Hindman was married to Andrew Hindman at the parish house at the St. Patrick Church in Sugarcreek Township on Nov. 28, 1943. Mr. Hindman preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1990.
Surviving are three children, Mary Ann Croop and her husband, Howard, of Mars, Lewis J. Hindman and his wife, Gaye, of East Brady and Barbara Yachimowski of East Brady; seven grandchildren, Brian Croop, Eric Hindman, Justin Hindman, Robert “Bobby” Hindman, Amanda Gaiser, Cory Yachimowski, and Dana Yachimowski; three stepgrandchildren, Richard Titus Jr., Colleen Keener and Amy Birckbichler; 10 great-grandchildren, Braeden and Gavin Croop, Mackenzie, Riley, Delaney, Donavan and Ansley Hindman and Brooke, Emily and Andrew Gaiser; six great-stepgrandchildren, Josh and Leah Warburton, Nathan Birckbichler and Zachary, Angelina and Makayla Titus; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hindman was preceded in death by two sons, infant Andrew Hindman and Robert Charles Hindman; a brother, James Brownfield; a sister, Aileen Northime; two grandchildren, infant Edward Croop and Neal Croop; as well as a great-granddaughter, Sarah Hindman; and a great-stepgrandson, Casey.
HINDMAN — Friends of Mary R. Hindman, who passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora-Fenelton Road, Chicora, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. William Kuba, pastor of the St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church, East Brady, officiating.
