Marian McCandless Grubbs, 82, of Ambridge, formerly of Sewickley, died Thursday at Kindred Hospital of Heritage Valley.

She was a member of one of the earliest pioneer families to settle Butler, which is where she was born March 12, 1925, to the late James and Elizabeth Fuhrer McCandless.

Mrs. Grubbs was a faithful member of Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church.

When World War IIerupted, she supported her country by being one of the many women to work in a factory. She had been employed by a Butler shirt factory.

She is survived by her four loving daughters, Karen Stroud of Williamsburg, Va., Beverly Bolombi and her husband, John, of Aliquippa, Shirley Heckman and her husband, Gerald, of Freedom, and Michele McClain of New Brighton; four devoted grandchildren, Justin Heckman and his wife, Michele, Amy Heckman, David McClain and Kelly, and Jason McClain; four cherished great-grandsons, Ryan, Branden and Cory Heckman, and Alex McClain.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter George Grubbs, in 1959. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Erla Peth, in December 2005, and a son in-law, James Stroud.

<B>GRUBBS</B> — Visitation for Marian McCandless Grubbs, who died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at <B>Copeland's Sewickley</B>, 702 Beaver St.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Nebo United Presbyterian Church, 1828 Roosevelt Road, Sewickley, with the Rev. Doug Dorsey officiating.Burial is at Mt. Nebo United Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
