George E. McElroy

George E. McElroy, 79, of Sugarcreek Township died Sunday at the Sugar Creek Rest, Worthington.

Born Nov. 20, 1929, in East Brady, he was the son of the late Joseph Kenneth McElroy and the late Florence (Kamerer) McElroy.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was one of a very few men sent to Hawaii for basic training.

Mr. McElroy was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, trapping and taking trips.

Surviving are a sister, Dolores Hiwiller (Donnell) of Sugarcreek Township; two nieces, Karen King (Ed) of New Kensington and Sue Shirey (Galen) of Mayport; two great-nieces, Dr. Emily Rapp (Gene) and Lindsay Kloepping (Mark); and a great-great-nephew, Jeb Rapp.

<B>McELROY</B>— Friends of George E. McElroy, who died Sunday, March 8, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home</B>, Cowansville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Randall Forester officiating.
