Daniel A. Atkinson

Daniel A. Atkinson, 60, of East Brady passed away Thursday.

He was born Jan. 31, 1952, in Kittanning and was the son of Lawrence Atkinson and Carrie Mae (Fair) Gamble.

He worked as a welder and truck driver for Wise Machine Shop in Butler. He enjoyed his family and friends and was an avid camper and hunter.

He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and a founding member of the Armstrong County Friends of the NRA Committee, which he served as secretary/treasurer for many years. He also enjoyed being on the advisory committee for the Lenape Tech Welding Technology Department.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Elaine (King) Atkinson, who he married March 28, 1969; two children, Loretta Lynn Atkinson of Worthington and Douglena Mae Zablocki and her husband, David, of Kittanning; four grandchildren Mikayla, Dozick, Max and Walker; and brothers, Randy Atkinson and his wife, Janet, of Worthington and David Atkinson and his wife, Bonnie, of Pittsburgh.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carrie Lynn.

ATKINSON — Friends of Daniel A. Atkinson, who died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the SNYder-Crissman Funeral Home in Cowansville. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Rodney Miller officiating.
