New parking garage to be open to permit parkers
The Centre City Parking Garage is expected to be open to permit parkers within two weeks and open to all by the end of November, said Butler parking manager Jim Chiprean.
Project manager Joe Saeler said workers were completing electrical and plumbing work. Chiprean added that there still was painting to be done. Saeler estimated that all but the installation of parking kiosks would be finished by Nov. 18. Upon that, Chiprean said, kiosks and the gate system would have to be completed, and that he would ensure the electric work was “safe.” Chiprean also said signs needed to be put in place.
Chiprean noted that the garage's completion was ahead of schedule. Initially, he said, the garage was expected to be completed the same time as the Marriott Springhill Suites next door.
The hotel is estimated to be completed by early summer of 2017, according to Chiprean.
The garage contains four floors and 238 spaces. Chiprean estimated that about 50 parking permits already have been sold for the garage.
The permits cost $60 per month. Anyone who is interested in a permit should call the Butler Police Department at 724-287-7743.
