Robert A. Remner

Robert A. Remner, 87, of Zelienople, passed away Saturday while under the care of UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Bob was born Aug. 9, 1929, in Youngstown, Ohio. He was the son of the late Andrew and Irma Timmerman Remner.

Bob was retired from Aetna Standard in Pittsburgh and Abby Aetna in Perrysburg, Ohio, where he worked as a mechanical engineer, specializing in draw bench engineering for more than 40 years. He was fortunate enough to be able to tour a large part of the world through his job, visiting Sweden, Japan, England and Ireland.

Bob became involved in shooting sports early in his life and developed his expertise on high school shooting squads. He was a member of the Mars Rod and Gun Club until his passing. He also enjoyed boating, reading and loved the intricacies of computers. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 62 years J. Margaret Such Remner, whom he married April 16, 1955; his sons, Robert A. (Maureen) Remner Jr. of Branchville, N.J., David J. (Debra) Remner of Aston, Pa., and James A. (Robin) Remner of Wexford; his grandchildren, John, Mike, Nicholas, Matt, Lindsay, Mark, Josh (Jessica) Vanderhoof and Nick (Samantha) Vanderhoof; his great-grandchildren, Mason, Sawyer, and Ruby; brother William (Jackie) Remner, of Rockland, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by brother Thomas Remner.

REMNER — The family of Robert A. Remner who died Saturday, May 27, 2017, will receive friends from 11 a.m. Friday until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Seaman Memorial Chapel at Passavant Retirement Community, 105 Burgess Drive, Zelienople, with the Rev John J. Hoogerbrugge officiating.Bob will be laid to rest at English Lutheran Church Cemetery in Zelienople.His arrangements have been entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in Bob's name to a charity of the donor's choice.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Bob's family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
