The Pittsburgh Philharmonic continues its “Going Abroad” concert at 8 p.m. March 23 as part of Butler County Community College's Performing Arts Series.

The focus of the concert is “Russian Steppes.”

Tickets for the concert in the Succop Theater are $18 in advance or $22 at the door; students pay $10.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slam Poetry Club at Slippery Rock University will host an evening featuring slam poet Anis Mojgani from 7 to 9 p.m. March 26 in the University Union's Multi-Purpose Room.Admission is free.Slam poetry is a form of writing usually making a comment on modern society that is delivered in a performance setting.

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra presents “Shostakovich Five,” a free concert, at 2 p.m. March 3 at Heinz Hall, 600 Penn Ave.Area students Michaela Valenta of Mars, who plays the cello, and Ken Klabnik of Sarver, who plays the French horn, are members of the orchestra.The program will include John Williams' “Imperial March” from “Star Wars.”The concert is free, but tickets are required for admission. PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Public Theater presents the Pittsburgh premiere of “Freud's Last Session,” a new play about an imagined meeting between outspoken atheist Sigmund Freud and Christian writer C.S. Lewis.The play runs March 1 through April 1 at the O'Reilly Theater, 621 Penn Ave.The performance schedule is 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays (except March 27 when the show is at 7 p.m.), at 2 p.m. Saturdays (except no shows March 3 and 10), and at 2 and 7 p.m. Sundays (except April 1 when the final show is at 2 p.m.) There will be an additional 2 p.m. matinee March 29.Tickets range from $22 to $55; students and guests age 26 and younger with valid ID pay $15.75. OIL CITY — Tasana Camara will teach African drum classes at the Oil Valley Center for the Arts, 206 Seneca St.He has performed professionally with the Ballet Senegal, the Ballet la Maise, the Ballet Djouliba and worldwide with the National Ballet of Guinea.The series of four classes in Oil City is for people age 10 and older.
