Pa. Honey Queen to talk about bees
The 2011 Pennsylvania Honey Queen, Alyssa Fine, will attend this year’s Butler Farm Show Aug. 10.
Fine, a 21-year-old from Monongahela, graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in agribusiness. She will share her knowledge about honeybees with visitors and put on a demonstration at 6:30 p.m. at the Farm Products Building.
Fine, along with her family, operate Fine Family Apiary where she develops different products using beeswax such as lip balms, lotions, and cleansers.
As part of her duties as the Pennsylvania Honey Queen, Fine travels across the state to schools and events educating people on the importance of honeybees.
Fine will represent the state in the American Honey Queen contest at the American Beekeeping Federation in Las Vegas in January.
