Vivian Fend, 78, of Butler passed away at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 9, 1933, in Butler, the daughter of the late Fred Byers and Lucille (Dibiccaro) Byers.

Vivian was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church.

She was a secretary for the Butler chief of police. She was a foster grandparent for 10 years and had worked for Dr. Spina for many years as a nurse.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathy J. Kerry of Butler; one granddaughter, Amber Brooke Kerry; and one brother, Fred Crow Byers of New York.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Fend, who passed away May 10, 1993; and two brothers.
