Harvey A. Moore Jr.

Harvey A. Moore Jr., 91, of Butler went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 3:48 a.m. Monday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Feb. 5, 1925, in Springdale, Pa., to the late Harvey A. Moore Sr. and Lillian (Heist) Moore.

Mr. Moore worked for the Butler County Artificial Breeding Corp. from 1950 to 1960. He then bought the family dairy farm in 1960.

Mr. Moore served as a Center Township supervisor and roadmaster from 1976 until his retirement in 1991.

He was a former 4-H leader and a former member of the local, county, state and national Grange. Mr. Moore was a former member of the U.S. Conservation District. He also was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane (Sumney) Moore, who he married Sept. 8, 1949; one daughter, Barbara Ann Gerstner of Butler; one son, Dale E. Moore and his wife, Marguerite, of Slippery Rock; daughter-in-law Tracee Moore of Butler; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Dr. Leroy E. Moore of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David A. Moore; and two brothers, Dr. Ernest E. Moore and Dr. Lincoln Moore.

MOORE — Friends of Harvey A. Moore Jr., who died Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with James F. Neal, retired Lutheran pastor, officiating.Burial will take place at the Greenlawn Burial Estates.Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 100 W.
