Merlene Hildebrand

Merlene Hildebrand, 73, of Cabot went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday at the Good Samaritan Hospice.

Born Feb. 28, 1943, in Natrona Heights, she was the daughter of the late Merle and Ruth (Morgan) Sharer.

She worked at various retail and convenience stores in the area.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Merlene enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her dog, Shelby, and playing board games and bingo.

Surviving are her husband of 24 years, Jacob Hildebrand; her son, James (Yvonne) Gamble of Grove City; her daughter, Pamela Gamble of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Isabelle, Luke and Jordan Gamble; his stepchildren, Jackie (Vernon) Fish of Cabot, Danny (Beth) Hildebrand of Cabot, Merle (Diane) Hildebrand of Saxonburg and Kenny (Lisa) Hildebrand of Ohio; six stepgrandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; four sisters, Sydney Dzezinski of Erie, Louise Shank of Lower Burrell, Laura Shields of Chicago, Ill., and Violet Sommers of Seven Fields; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Nelson “Jim” Gamble; three sisters, Ruth Hildebrand, Nyla Shook and Garnet Leach; and one stepgrandchild.

HILDEBRAND — Friends of Merlene Hildebrand, who died Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.
