School's benefit dinner raises $12,000 for injured couple
A spaghetti dinner Sept. 20 raised more than $12,000 to benefit a couple severely injured in a Route 8 accident earlier this month.
The event, hosted by Penn Christian Academy at its Airport Road facility, raised $12,624, according to Saralee Lenhart, the school’s director of business and communication.
Funds will help with mounting medical bills and expenses for Jenny Martin, a music teacher at the school who teaches students in preschool to seventh grade, and her husband, Zach.
They were airlifted from the scene of an accident on Route 8 in Penn Township Sept. 4.
Police report that the Martin couple was struck by another driver. That driver, police said, admitted to using opioids before the crash.
