William D. Pounds

William D. Pounds, 88, of 159 Cartwright Road, Chicora, formerly of Little Genesee, N.Y., passed away Saturday in Butler following a brief illness.

Born Nov. 22, 1929, in Norwood, Mass., he was the son of Jesse and Mary Azaida Pounds.

Bill married the former Claire C. McLeavey on Jan. 1, 1956, in Revere, Mass. Mrs. Pounds preceded him in death on June 10, 1987.

On July 1, 1994, he married Wendy Benson. Mrs. Pounds survives.

Mr. Pounds was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War.

He was employed at the Bolivar Magneto Co. in Bolivar from 1954 to 1989. He later worked in the maintenance department of Butler County Community College for more than five years, retiring in 1994.

Bill was a member of American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora and of the Macedonia Lodge 258 F&AM in Bolivar, N.Y.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Tim (Sharon) Pounds of Little Genesee, N.Y., and Dawn (David) Brooks of Springville, N.Y.; and one granddaughter, Claire C. Pounds of Eldred, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin W. Pounds; his grandson, Caleb W. Pounds; and three brothers, Philip, Jack and Richard Pounds.

POUNDS — Friends of William D. Pounds, who died Saturday, May 5, 2018, may call from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Schaffner Funeral Home, 554 S. Main St., in Bolivar, N.Y.A Masonic funeral service will follow visitation followed by full military honors. Burial will be at the Wells Cemetery in Little Genesee, N.Y.Memorials may be made to Orphans of the Storm, P.O. Box 838, Kittanning, PA 16201.
