Mary King
Mary “Sis” (Colligan) King, 71, of Kittanning, formerly of East Brady, passed away on Aug. 25, 2022, at her home after a courageous four-year battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Sis was born July 25, 1951, the daughter of Roy and Mabel (Lobaugh) Colligan of East Brady.
She graduated from East Brady High School Class of 1969, and remained a die-hard Bulldog fan. Sis attended Clarion University, where she achieved a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in mathematics. She taught primary education in the Armstrong School District for 34 years at Bradys Bend, Sugarcreek, Shannock Valley and West Hills Elementary schools.
Her first love and dedication was always her family. Sis followed her children and their athletic teams faithfully, always with her camera and clappers in hand. She was the ultimate team mom. Sis was passionate about all the levels of sports her children participated in, from tee ball to their college hockey teams at Mercyhurst and Penn State. Sis always put her family first and took great pride in all their accomplishments. She always made everyone feel as if they were a part of her family. She bled Black and Gold and never missed a Penguins or Steelers game.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, James “Jim” King Sr., of Kittanning; their son, James “Jamie” King Jr., and his wife Erin (Fulton), of Indiana, Pa., and their daughter, Katie King, and her wife Kelsey (Luke), of Ford City; her ever-precious grandson, James King III; her brother, Paul Colligan, and his wife Patty (Henry), of Kittanning; her sister, Cathy (Colligan) Hale, and her husband John, of Pittsburgh; numerous nieces and nephews; and her faithful and loving golden retrievers, Molly and Gracie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mabel Colligan, of East Brady.
