Dolores Shumaker

Dolores Irene Shumaker, 81, of North Main Street, Fairview, passed away Wednesday afternoon at her home.

Dolores was born in Chicora on March 23, 1933. She was the daughter of Russell B. and Helen Beal Moore.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the former St. Peter Reformed Church in Fairview. She enjoyed history, genealogy, painting ceramics, playing the organ and writing poetry.

Mrs. Shumaker was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin C. Shumaker. The couple had married in Chicora in 1950.

Dolores is survived by four children, Sylvia Hughes and her husband, Michael, of Harlingen, Texas, Steve Shumaker and his wife, Patricia, of Williamsburg, Va., Jeff Shumaker and his wife, Joye, of Fairview and Dan Shumaker and his wife, Cindy, of Karns City; 10 grandchildren, Sean, Patrick, Kiersten, Seth, Nicole, Matt, Kara, Sara, Jarod and Chad; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Russell A. Moore and his wife, Charlotte, and one sister, Nancy Sequete and her husband, Richard, all of Butler; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Shumaker was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley O'Donnell.

SHUMAKER — Friends of Dolores Irene Shumaker, who died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Barger, pastor of the Scrubgrass Stone Church in Emlenton, officiating. Interment will take place in Bear Creek Cemetery in Petrolia.Memorial contributions in Mrs. Shumaker's name may be made to the Butler Public Library Genealogy Department, 218 N.
