Cathy Grove

Cathy Sue (Phillips) Grove, 53, of Cranberry Township passed away Tuesday at her home here on Earth to her heavenly home.

Cathy was born on Aug. 2, 1959, in Akron, Ohio, to Norman and Karen Phillips.

She grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. She graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1977 and from the University of Akron's College of Nursing in 1981. Cathy worked most recently for UPMC Health Plan. She loved her profession and helping her patients.

Cathy was the best daughter, mother and friend. She loved her girls so much and was very proud of them. She went to every activity they were in at school and college, using her vacation days. She called her mom and dad every day to check on them.

Cathy had congestive heart failure, but never complained about her tiredness and pain. She went to work every day with a smile on her face. She was a very strong person who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

In addition to her parents, Cathy leaves behind to cherish her memory, her two loving daughters, Amanda Gordish and Elizabeth (Blair Varner) Gordish; her two brothers, Mark (Janice) Phillips and David (Susan) Phillips; her nephew and two nieces, A.J. and Jennie and Ashley; her numerous aunts and uncles, Ben and Rosalie Fought, Barbara and David Jones, Mary Ann and John Fuller, Sue and Grant Bennett, Dorothy and Bud Moffett and Linda and Dale Clause; and many precious cousins who she loved spending time with.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Okey and Thelma Fought, Flonnie and Sylvester Phillips, and her great-grandparents, Ben and Anice Shoop.

GROVE — The family of Cathy Sue (Phillips) Grove, who died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, will welcome friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township. Additional visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312. A funeral ceremony will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home with Cathy's brother, Mark Phillips, officiating. She will be laid to rest at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cathy's honor in support of Haven of Rest Ministries, 175 E.
