Robert L. Thompson Sr.

Robert L. Thompson Sr., 87, of Valencia passed away Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Dec. 7, 1929, in Bakerstown, the son of the late Warren F. and Marie Simons Thompson.

Bob was a retired coal miner who had worked at various coal mines. He enjoyed watching baseball and football. He was an animal lover.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Gloria Greenawalt Thompson of Valencia, whom he married Sept. 27, 1952; three daughters, Karen Thompson, Sharon Ehrman and Gail Thompson; three sons, Bobby Thompson, Danny and his wife, Linda Thompson, and Larry Thompson; five grandchildren, Shelley, Rob and his wife, Kelly, Leanne and Danny, including a special granddaughter, Sonya, who he raised, and her fiancé, Sam Letizia Jr.; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred, Nancy and Elvajean; and one brother, Glenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; two brothers; and his son-in-law, Denny Ehrman.

THOMPSON — A private service for Robert L. Thompson Sr., who died Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, was conducted today at the Young Funeral Home in Butler, and burial followed at the Butler County Memorial Park.For more information, visit www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
