Barbara J. Waugaman

Ms. Barbara J. Waugaman, 77, of Evans City, formerly of Apollo, passed away Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born May 2, 1941, in Indiana, she was the daughter of the late John Wilson and Mary E. (Jasper) Wilson Waugaman.

Barbara was a graduate of Apollo High School, and attended Thiel College, where she was a proud member of their choir.

Barbara lived in Evans City most of her life after spending a year in Waynesboro, and was a third-grade teacher at Evans City Elementary School for 39 years, retiring in 2004.

Barbara was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Apollo, where she served on church council and the choir.

Barbara enjoyed traveling, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Barbara is survived by her sister, Nancy L. (Jeffrey) Wofford of Worthington; her brother, William J. (Cathy) Waugaman of Elderton; her nieces and nephews, Kiersten, Kourtney, Billy, Becky, Jamie and Jason; and several great nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Roy H. “Sonny” Waugaman, III.

WAUGAMAN — Friends of Barbara J. Waugaman, who died Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 214 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Apollo, with Pastor Philip Ramstad officiating.Private interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Leechburg, at the convenience of the family.Memorial contributions may be made in Barbara's memory to the church at the above listed address, or to the Apollo Library, 219 N.
