Dennis K. Morris

Morris

Dennis K. Morris, 58, of Portersville passed away Thursday.

He passed away from respiratory and cardiac complications he developed while saving his grandson’s life-sustaining medical equipment from a burning house fire. Dennis’ 18-month-old grandson, Ford, has a rare genetic disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1, which requires special medical equipment for his survival.

Dennis had many loves: the Lord, serving in missions, his family and friends, hunting, fishing, gardening and motorcycle riding. He was a valued and hardworking materials manager for Henderson Construction Fabrics of Harmony. He previously owned Morris HVAC Heating and Cooling for 20 years.

He was a graduate of Portersville Christian School, which was founded by his father, the Rev. Joseph B. Morris. He attended Portersville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church for 54 years. He also taught the adult Sunday school class.

Although his death was so unexpected, the actions that lead to his untimely death are not of any surprise to his family and friends. His life was a reflection of always giving, always serving others and always sacrificing his own needs for those of others.

The family especially would like to thank the Portersville Volunteer Fire Department and ambulance service for their time, hard work, compassion and kind support during the fire. Dennis was a life member of the Portersville Volunteer Fire Department since 1973 and served with many of the firefighters during that time.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta Morris of Portersville; his daughter and son-in-law, Jenn and Matt Henderson of Ellwood City; his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kayla Sniezek of Slippery Rock; his daughter, Valerie Morris of Portersville; four grandchildren, Max, Wade and Grace Henderson and Ford Sniezek; and two brothers, Joseph Morris and his wife, Judy, of Volant and Jeff Morris and his wife, Carla, of Grove City.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, the Rev. Joseph and Betty Morris, and by one sister, Jandy Morris.
