Dominic Charles “Mac” Chutz
Dominic Charles “Mac” Chutz, 95, of Slippery Rock passed away at Grove City Medical Center at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday following a brief illness.
He was born June 4, 1922, in New Castle, to Leonard E. and Rose Chutz. Mac was a U.S. Navy veteran. He married Carmella “Molly” Bonace on Jan. 4, 1946, and she preceded him in death on April 9, 2000.
Mac retired as an owner and operator in the mining industry. His career began in partnership with his brothers operating Chutz Brothers Coal. He later owned and operated Chutz Contracting among other companies. Mac was keen minded and had great energy and enthusiasm. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards with friends and he was a voracious reader.
Survivors include his daughter, Diane L. (Jeff) Bell of Grove City; three sons, Robert M. (Ralphie) Chutz of Slippery Rock, David Charles (Penny) Chutz of Harrisville and Donald R. (Beth Yoest) Chutz of Renfrew; four grandchildren Robert, Theresa, Justin and Carley; his special friend, Verna Allen of Slippery Rock; and four great-grandchildren, Dominic, Maddox, Alylah and Johnny.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
CHUTZ — Family of Dominic Charles “Mac” Chutz, who died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 670 S. Main St., Slippery Rock. Interment will be at the Crestview Memorial Park in Pine Township, Mercer County.
