Rachel E. Weldon, 89, of West Sunbury passed away Wednesday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.

Rachel was born on May 12, 1924, in Claytonia. She was the daughter of the late Allen C. Carothers and the late Belle Rebecca Kerr Carothers.

She was a member of the West Sunbury United Church of the Nazarene.

She had been employed as a sales clerk for over 14 years at the Murphy Mart in Butler and various other stores in the Sharon area.

Rachel is survived by her sister, May Garris of Franklin, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd “Bob” Weldon, who died on Dec. 27, 1989, and three brothers, Jamison, Charles and Robert Carothers.

WELDON — The friends of Rachel E. Weldon, who passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, will be received at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. The funeral services will follow at 8:30 p.m. with the Rev. Tim Britton, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.If desired, the family requests memorial donations be made to the West Sunbury United Church of the Nazarene.
