Edinboro tops SRU men with late rally
The Slippery Rock University men's basketball team was on the wrong end of a 19-5 run in the final seven minutes of play as host Edinboro prevailed 62-59 Saturday.
Playing well in defeat was SRU senior forward Devin Taylor, who recorded team-high totals of 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Darious Clark and Aubin Reeves both chipped in with 13 points and Gerald Brooks brought down 10 rebounds.
The Rock falls to 10-3 in the PSAC and 13-4 overall while Edinboro is now 11-6, 7-6.
Slippery Rock University fielded three players who scored in double figures, but The Rock lost a 72-59 road decision to two-time defending PSAC champion Edinboro.The Rock held a 46-44 lead with 11:16 to play, before the Fighting Scots managed a 21-5 run to pull away.Leading the way for SRU (4-13, 3-10), was Erinne Cunningham with 16 points.Simone Aladenoye added 13 points and a team-high six rebounds and Alexas Brown contributed 12 points.With the win, Edinboro improved to 11-2 in PSAC play and 14-3 overall.CCAC-Boyce 79, Butler County Community College 45 — Despite 26 points and eight rebounds from Shelby Johnston, the Pioneers (3-12) fell at home.Kyleigh Coster added eight boards and Cam Horwat five assists for BC3, which was playing its first game without point guard Jen Barry, who is out for the remainder of the season with an illness.
