Robert Hutnick
Robert Peter Hutnick, 77, of Butler, fell asleep in the Lord at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022.
Bob was born in New York City in 1945, and was a son of the late Peter and Anna Hutnick. He grew up in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, and proudly, he never forgot his family's early roots.
He married Paulette in 1966, and together they shared 56 years of a loving marriage.
Bob started his career on Wall Street as a stockbroker and after numerous years of the rush and hustle of Wall Street, he made the decision to relocate to Butler, where Paulette was born and raised. Upon moving to Butler, “Chef Bob,” as he became known, resurrected his first love, an epicurean in unique and delicious gourmet. Bob was recognized in the tri-state area as a talented and successful executive chef. D.J.'s Hideaway, where he introduced the "Black Diamond Steak," was his first engagement of many well-known restaurants in Pennsylvania and Ohio, to utilize his abounding culinary skills. His art and expertise were sought by numerous organizations in catering, as well. Throughout his career, Bob mentored many dishwashers, cooks and sous chefs, who later moved on to start their own careers.
Bob was an avid fisherman, and looked forward to the annual family vacation to the beach. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be deeply missed. Bob truly was "The Boy from New York City."
Bob was a member of St. John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his twin daughters, Debra Ann (Thomas) Kraustok and Dawn Marie (John) Snyder, and one grandson, Thomas Robert Kraustok, all of Butler.
He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Robert Dano, Frank (Becky) Dano and Paul (Mary) Dano of Lancaster, and William Harkins of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; his sisters-in-law, Stephanie Dano and Julia (James) Bohin, all of Butler; and several aunts, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Dolores Corso and Carol Harkins; his sister-in-law, Mary K. Dano; his brothers-in-law, Samuel Corso and Dennis Barnett; and his in-laws, Frank T. and Eva Dano.
The family wishes to thank the Six Main staff at Butler Memorial Hospital, especially Anna and Shannen; his physicians, Dr. Thomas G. Shetter, Dr. Amith Shamir, Dr. Samer Azouz and Dr. Emily Martin; and the VNA Hospice team, especially Jeff, Travis and Dawna.
What was once enjoyed and deeply loved, we can never lose, for all we love dearly becomes part of us.
