Jean Simmers
Jean L. Simmers, 83, of Worthington, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 9, 1939, to Bernard D. and Esther I. (Minteer) McGrady. She was a lifelong resident of Worthington.
Jean was a graduate of Worthington West-Franklin High School.
Her life’s work of nursing began at the Allegheny Valley Hospital School of Nursing, and continued at both Kittanning Hospital and Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.
She was a faithful member of Bright Hope Community Church in Butler.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, D. Carlton Simmers; and her children, Leslie Anthony of Worthington, Scott and Brenda Simmers of Butler, and Michele and Michael Cannell of Powell, Ohio.
She was a beloved Grammy to Bekki Anthony, Nikki Anthony, Breanna and Todd Haley, Eli Simmers, Kyra and DJ Richardson, Ethan Simmers, Melina Cannell and Emma Simmers; and a cherished great-grandmother to Allie Cramer, Raegan Haley, Adalyn Flick, Sylas Flick and Aria Richardson.
She is also survived by her brothers, Ron McGrady and James (Debbie) McGrady, both of Worthington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Richard B. McGrady.
SIMMERS — Services for Jean L. Simmers, who died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, are private and under the care of the F. DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME in Worthington.
