Simon's 'Rumors' comes to Kean

GIBSONIA — “Rumors,” the classic Neil Simon comedy, will be staged Feb. 11 to 20 at the Kean Theatre, 5847 Meridian Road.

In “Rumors,” an elegant dinner party for the New York elite turns into a scene from “Platoon” in this night of laughter.

The host, the deputy mayor of New York, has shot himself in the earlobe. The hostess is missing; there are no servants; the food is not cooked and the party-goers don’t have a clue what is going on.

As the night deteriorates, people begin passing out. Food is burned. Husbands and wives find out more than they should. The police show up.

“Rumors” features Tommy Smithyman of Franklin Park, Michelle LeWay of Pittsburgh, Heidi Nichols of Butler, Stefan Lingenfelter of Butler, Patrick Shiner of Monroeville, and Chrissy Zuemie of Cranberry Township.

Curtain is 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Feb. 18 and 19 with tickets costing $22. An optional dinner at any Atria’s Restaurant & Tavern location will begin seating at 6 p.m.; cost for dinner and the show is $41.

Sunday matinees will be staged at 2 p.m. this Sunday as well as Feb. 20 at a cost of $20. An optional luncheon will take place at the Kean Theatre’s Mount Vernon Restaurant at 12:30 p.m.; cost for lunch and the show is $39.
