Glenn A. Prady Sr.
Glenn A. Prady Sr., 85, of Prospect passed away Saturday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 19, 1930, in Crucible, Greene County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Amelia Morascinni Prady.
Retiring in 1989 from the North Allegheny School District, where for 35 years he was the pupil transportation coordinator. Mr. Prady initiated the two-hour delay to the start of the school day during bad weather for the safety of the students. He was a member of the Allegheny School Bus Association, the Pennsylvania Pupil Transportation Association and the National Association for Pupil Transportation.
Before school transportation, he was self employed as a certified state inspection mechanic with Prady's Sunoco, one on Center Avenue and one on Route 8, and Prady's Amoco at Baum and Liberty Avenue, all in Allegheny County.
A 1949 graduate of the Carmichaels Area School District, he was a distinguished player on the football team that went undefeated, 8-0, in the 1949 season.
A proud U.S. veteran, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne attached to the 101st. He received the Parachute Badge, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He is a member of the Connoquenessing United Methodist Church. While enjoying giving back to his community, he was a member of the Hampton Rotary Club, Allegheny County, where he served as a past president and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow, and a member of the Portersville-Prospect Rotary Club.
Glenn was a collector of HO Trains, loved Boston Terriers, especially his dog Max, enjoyed boating, fishing, water skiing, needlepoint, mowing grass and camping. He will be remembered for his special talent of woodworking and craftsmanship, making furniture, grandfather clocks, cribs, cradles, among other items for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Jane Davidson Prady, who he married July 28, 1951; his children, Glenn (Debora) Prady Jr. of McCandless, Jeffrey (Jean Peterson) Prady of Harmony, Kevin (Sarah) Prady of Pine Township and Katherine (Jeffrey Gross) Prady of Meridian; his grandchildren, Megan (Jimmy) Leese, Anissa (Randall) Dailey, Glenn Prady III, Constance (Kellen) Kayla, Chad Prady, Jesse Prady, Krystyna Prady, Carleigh Stoner and Kaitlyn Stoner; and his great-grandson, Joseph Leese.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Glenda Jane Prady; his great-granddaughter, Julia Leese; his brother, Joseph Prady; and his sister, Geraldine Spitzer.
PRADY — Visitation for Glenn A. Prady Sr., who died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect.The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Connoquenessing United Methodist Church with the Rev.
