Lawrence Paul Heade
Lawrence Paul Heade, 80, of Saxonburg passed away Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 12, 1936, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Edward S. Heade and Ruth Vale Heade.
He served active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War era. He also served in the U.S. Army National Guard, the U.S. Air Force National Guard and the Active Marine Corps Reserve during the Vietnam War. He was in the military for a total of 12 years from 1954 to 1966.
Larry was a graduate of Ross Lefler School and the Conservation PA Game Commission Training School. Larry served as a game protector for the counties of Potter, Mercer and Butler. He was the assistant training supervisor in Harrisburg. He retired from the Game Commission as the law enforcement supervisor for an 11-county area in the southwest region. Larry served about 30 years in the game commission. He also drove school buses after retiring from the Game Commission.
He was a life member of Bantam Marine Detachment 743, Butler, where he was past commandant and color guard commander. He also was a life member of the Military Order of the Devil Dogs Bantam Jeep Pound 213, the American Legion Post 117, the Conservation Officers of Pennsylvania, the F&AM Armstrong Lodge 219, the Saxonburg Sportsmen's Club and the National Rifle Association.
Larry also was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Sarver, where he was a past trustee and was on the administration. He was a past driver for disabled veterans at the VA hospital, veterans bingos, many color guards for the VA hospital ceremonies and various veterans functions throughout the area.
Larry enjoyed camping, hunting, golfing, riding his ATV, mowing grass, reading and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his loving wife, Sylvia C. Bargerstock Heade, who he married in October 1957; his daughter, Sherri Heade of Saxonburg; his son, Mark (Cathy Dohmen) Heade of Cabot; and his granddaughter, Candice Heade of Saxonburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert S. Heade and Edward W. Heade.
HEADE — Friends of Lawrence Paul Heade, who died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. The Bantam Marine Detachment 743 will conduct a prayer service at 7 p.m.Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert H. Wilson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Zion Church Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the Bantam Marine Detachment #743, 101 Frankstown Lane, Butler, PA 16002.
