BRADY TWP — No one was injured this afternoon when a vehicle crashed into a store on Route 8.

Janet McCommon, 30, of Clay Township drove her silver, 2010 Subaru Forester into the Country Corner Store at 12:40 p.m.

McCommon said the accelerator pedal stuck. When going in reverse, she struck a railing near the gasoline pumps. Then, while the vehicle was in drive, it rammed into the south wall of the store.

McCommon said the vehicle is insured.

Just after the accident, McCommon was worried about her 2-year-old son, who was in the car.

But her son was uninjured in a child safety seat. The airbags in the vehicle did not deploy, she said.

State police Trooper Timothy Morando said it is likely that McCommon’s flip-flop sandal was stuck to the gas pedal. No charges will be filed, he said.

Damage to the outside of the building was minimal, but the damage inside was considerable. The vehicle hit the building where the counter was. Several shelves were knocked over, glass was broken and a pizza warmer was destroyed.

The accident closed the store for the rest of the day.

The building is insured.

The Unionville Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the incident.
