Sentence Court

The following defendants were sentenced Tuesday in Butler County Common Pleas Court by Senior Judge William Shaffer.

Tyler Blaine Raling, 30, of Pittsburgh, was sentenced to serve 90 to 180 days in jail, followed by 54 months of probation, pay a $1,500 fine, and complete alcohol highway safety school, litter pick-up and a victim impact panel after pleading guilty to his second driving under the influence of a controlled substance offense filed by Butler Township police following a Jan. 10, 2021, incident.

James Scott Majetic Jr., 38, of Beaver Falls, was sentenced to serve 12 to 60 months in jail, but was immediately paroled after pleading guilty to his third DUI offense, and six to 24 months in jail, but was immediately paroled after pleading guilty to his fourth DUI offense. He was given credit for having served 554 days in jail. His sentence included a $500 fine and completion of alcohol highway safety school and 60 hours of community service. Zelienople police filed charges in his third DUI following an Aug. 12, 2017, incident. State police filed charges in his fourth DUI following a Sept. 1, 2017, incident. Other charges in both cases were dismissed.

Melanie A. Werner, 46, of Butler, was sentenced to serve 60 months of probation including 105 days of house arrest, pay a $1,500 fine, and complete alcohol highway safety school and 40 hours of community service after pleading guilty to her second DUI of a controlled substance offense filed by Butler City police following a May 9, 2021, incident.

Scott Allen Wiles, 59, of Zelienople, was sentenced to serve 18 months of probation after pleading no contest to a charge of simple assault filed by Cranberry Township police following a March 24, 2021, incident.

Zachary David Bujak, 36, of New Castle was sentenced to serve six months of probation and pay a $150 fine after pleading guilty to a charge of recklessly endangering another person filed by state police following a March 5, 2020, incident.

Joshua Taylor Mclachlan, 43, of Natrona Heights, was sentenced to serve six months of probation, pay a $300 fine, and complete 25 hours of community service and alcohol highway safety school after pleading guilty to a charge of DUI filed by Butler Township police following an Aug. 28, 2020, incident.

Richard Alan Schmidt, 62, of Butler, was sentenced to serve 15 months of probation and ordered to pay restitution totaling $31.90 after pleading guilty to a charge of retail theft filed Jan. 27 and another charge of retail theft filed Feb. 5 by Butler Township police.

Mason Clay Kauffman, 36, of Butler, was sentenced to serve six months of probation including 14 days of house arrest, pay fines totaling $1,025, and complete alcohol highway safety school, 40 hours of community service and a victim impact panel after pleading guilty to charges of DUI and careless driving filed by state police following a Jan. 15 incident.

Kelly Lynn Staudt, 53, of Pittsburgh, was sentenced to serve 12 months of probation and pay $394.78 in restitution to Walmart after pleading guilty to retail theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft filed by Cranberry Township police following a June 19, 2019, incident.
