Edward S. Lucas

Edward S. Lucas

Edward S. Lucas, 95, of Butler, died Wednesday afternoon at Concordia at the Orchard.

Ed enjoyed life to the fullest, and anyone that met him loved him. He had an incredible sense of humor and was always looking at the positive in life.

Ed was born and grew up in Munhall, Pa., where he went to high school.

After graduating, he entered the Navy as an underwater demolition technician. Once out of the service he finished college with a degree in finance and worked for The Associates and then Hunter's Truck Sales until his retirement.

During his time at The Associates, he met and married the love of his life, Winifred, and they had a long and happy marriage until her death. During that marriage, they adopted three wonderful kids, Paul, Nancy and Scott.

Ed never met a martini he didn't like, and sports were a constant in his life, no matter what his age.

He played high school and college football and baseball, but his real passion was golf. He loved golfing with his buddies and constantly worked on his game.

Ed will be forever remembered for his quick wit, fairness and honesty. He was a man people were proud to call “friend.” Ed will be painfully missed by those who were lucky enough to know him.

Right now though, he's looking down on us with Winnie by his side, raising a martini to those who loved him. And that, we did.

Surviving are his children, Paul E. (Cindy) Lucas of Monroeville, Pa., Nancy A. Lucas of Fairfax, Va., and Scott E. (Emily) Lucas of Emerald Isle, N.C.; two grandchildren, Aaron Lucas of Pittsburgh and Sydnee (Kiko) Velez of Houston, Texas; one brother, Charles (Pat) Lucas of Pittsburgh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Winifred Lucas. She died July 6, 1995; three brothers, Milton, Stanley “Jay” and Russell; and one sister, Laverne.
