David A. Charles
David A. Charles, 74, of Downingtown, Pa., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of Linda A. Gray Charles with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.
Born in Pittsburgh, David was the son of the late Kenneth and Dorothy Renn Charles, and he was a 1959 graduate of Mars High School.
He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, obtaining the rank of sergeant.
David started out working for Pittsburgh Pipe in Pittsburgh and was later transferred to Eastern Pennsylvania as a district regional manager. He then went into business for himself and started Budget Exterminating in Downingtown. For 25 years, he was the owner and operator of the business, retiring in 2015.
He loved Harley-Davidsons and owned a Road King. David also enjoyed metal detecting, but above all, was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Charles is survived by his children, April Ann Dudley and her husband, William, David William Charles and his wife, Katrina, and Michael Kenneth Charles and his wife, Christina; his brother, James Charles (Geri); his sisters, Barbara Charles, Kathleen Charles, Judith Compton (John), Joan Olson (Kelly), Carrie Charles Stone and Mollie Franke (Bill); and nine grandchildren, Rachel, Nicholas, Jessica, Lindsey, Daniel, Christian, Brandon, Arial and Dylan.
He was also predeceased by his brother, Kenneth.
