There was more than just broncos bucking at the North Washington Rodeo in 1967.
According to the Aug. 15, 1967, edition of the Butler Eagle, the rodeo, which this year starts Aug.16, opened with a parade that featured a number of Butler County organizations.
The North Washington Firemen sponsored a parade that featured the Junior Catholic Daughters of America, the General Butler Vagabonds and the Butler Trojanettes, which took first place in the junior parade division.
A highlight of the parade was the Yellow Dog Six band from Worthington, which was scheduled to play at the rodeo arena.
The year also set a record for rodeo prizes, with $4,835 in the pot to entice competitors to do well in the competitions.
