Carol B. Schofield

Carol B. Schofield, 80, of Butler died Wednesday at UPMC Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born April 14, 1935, in Indiana, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Donald E. Burgett and Gwendolyn (Grundy) Burgett.

Carol graduated from Keith's School in Indiana, Pa., also Indiana University of Pennsylvania and had earned a master's degree in education.

She was a retired kindergarten teacher from the Butler School District, having taught for 34 years at the Center Avenue Elementary School. She also helped write the curriculum for kindergarten when it became available in the public schools in the early 1970s.

She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Butler, the Order of Eastern Star, the Junior Womens Club, the PSEA, the NEA, the DAR, and the Retired Teachers Association of Pennsylvania. She was a staunch Republican, where she was active in local and national committees.

She enjoyed and loved her family and had traveled extensively with her daughter, Sharon, to watch her perform and compete.

Surviving are her daughter, Sharon (Thomas) Puluso of Cranberry Township; one son, Wesley Schofield of Butler; three grandchildren, Kimberly Puluso and her fiance, Jeremie Perkins, Michele (Frank) DeSantis and Tony (Kristen) Puluso; two great-grandchildren, Cameron Puluso and Bailey DeSantis; one brother, Donald Burgett of Loudon, Tenn.; and one sister, Karen Cass of Indiana, Pa.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Schofield, whom she married June 9, 1956, and who died May 9, 2014.

SCHOFIELD — Friends of Carol B. Schofield, who died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., Butler. The Rev. Kimberly van Driel, pastor, will officiate. Internment will follow at the Butler County Memorial Park.Memorial donations may be made to the Butler Area Public Library, 218 N.
