Photographs highlighting Gaylord’s Snack Bar, the Skee Devil, frog-jumping contests and other local sites and events are compiled in the Butler County Historical Society 2016 Calendar.

The full-size, 12-month wall calendar is available at May’s Music Shoppe, Natili’s North, Cummings Candy Shop, the Hair Specialist 2 and the Senator Walter Lowrie House.

[naviga:h3]Hair styling event to support charity[/naviga:h3]

VALENCIA — One-on-one tutoring sessions to benefit Hair Peace Charities will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Salon Eleven Fifty Four, 1154 Pittsburgh Road.

Participants will learn tricks to braid, curl and style their hair or the hair of a child or friend. There also will be a basket raffle and refreshments.

Hair Peace Charities helps women and girls buy wigs while undergoing chemotherapy treatment for any type of cancer. Donations at the event will support the charity.

[naviga:h3]Trunk or Treat registration open[/naviga:h3]

JEFFERSON TWP — Summit Church’s fourth annual “Trunk or Treat” will be at 4 p.m. Oct. 24 at HIS Kids Christian School, 650 Saxonburg Road.

There will be crafts, games, food and “Trunk or Treating” for children in fifth grade and younger who are accompanied by an adult. Hot dogs, chips and beverages will be provided.

Costumes are permitted except those that are very frightening, bloody or gory.

Registration for children and families is appreciated, but not required.
