SRU player is headed to inaugural
SLIPPERY ROCK— Slippery Rock University sophomore softball player Shardea Croes will be among the participants in the University Presidential Inaugural Conference next week in Washington, D.C.
Croes is an exercise science major from San Nicolas, Aruba. She earned her invitation by achieving a high SAT score and through her participation as an ambassador for Aruba at the Global Young Leaders Conference in April.
An outfielder for The Rock, Croes batted .350 last spring with a home run, 10 RBI and 12 stolen bases. She committed only one error and was an all-PSAC West selection as a freshman.
The conferenceruns Saturday through Wednesday. It is comprised of exclusive and private inaugural events and activities. Croes will be on hand for the swearing-in ceremony of president-elect Barack Obama and vice president-elect Joe Biden, along with the inaugural parade.
Croes and the other participating inaugural scholars will meet and interact with White House veterans, press secretaries, presidential historians, etc.
