Deborah Douglas
Deborah W. “Debbie” Douglas, 64, of East Butler, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, at Allegheny General Hospital with her family by her side.
Born June 16, 1958, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. Whitacre and Kathryn “Kay” (Smith) Whitacre.
Debbie was a 1976 graduate of Butler High School, and went on to attend Butler County Community College, where she earned degrees in business management and accounting.
She recently retired from the Butler Area School District following 21 years in food service.
Debbie was an active member of First United Methodist Church, and enjoyed going to Jumonville Camp.
"Mama Douglas,” as she was known to many, loved children and always had an open door for them, and never let them leave hungry. She enjoyed crocheting, bowling and going out to eat. Above all else, Debbie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved spending time with her family.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Richard “Rick” Douglas, whom she married on Sept. 22, 1984; three sons, Andrew “Andy” Douglas and his fiancée Haley, and Joe Douglas and Stephen Douglas, all of East Butler; her daughter, Christine Cavanaugh and her husband, Zachery, of Cabot; two grandchildren, Ash Cavanaugh and Ashton Walker; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dick and Mabel Douglas; her brother-in-law, Ken Douglas; her sister-in-law, Peggy Sarvey and her husband, David; one niece; and two great-nieces.
DOUGLAS — All are invited to attend a visitation for Deborah W. “Debbie” Douglas, who died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, to be held from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. David Janz officiating.
Private interment will take place at Butler County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Debbie’s honor to the Children’s Ministry of First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001.
