Dr. Amy Margaret Kaufman, 57, of Butler, passed away Mon., Aug.1, 2022, at her residence.

Born Sept. 24, 1964, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of Dorothy Rubenstein Neil and the late William Neil.

She was an assistant principal at Propel Braddock Hills Elementary School in Braddock Hills, Pa.

She received a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University, a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and a doctor of education degree with specialization in literacy and reading from Capella University. She was passionate about empowering children to reach the highest levels of success.

She is survived by her husband, William R. Strauch; her mother, Dorothy Rubenstein Neil; one daughter, Abigail Kaufman of Pittsburgh; three sisters, Mary Lynn Neil, Sharon Lawrence and Becky Neil; and one brother, William Neil.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Kevin Kaufman, who passed away April 8, 2003.
