Reynolds’ HR lifts Bucs past Brewers
Bryan Reynolds led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a solo home run to lift the Pittsburgh Pirates to an 8-7 victory over Milwaukee at PNC Park Tuesday night.
Brewers’ reliever Devin Williams served up the final pitch and shouldered the loss.
The Pirates led 7-4 after seven innings, but Milwaukee (57-47) tied the score with a three-run eighth against relief pitcher Yerry de Los Santos.
Wil Crowe came in to get the last out of the eighth and worked a scoreless ninth before being credited with the win.
Pittsburgh (42-62) overcame an early 4-0 deficit, scoring two runs in the third and two more in the sixth. The Bucs broke the 4-all tie with three runs in the seventh, with a single from Ke'Bryan Hayes plating Reynolds and Oneil Cruz added a two-run home run later in the inning.
Pittsburgh starting pitcher, Tyler Beede, lasted just 1 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on five hits.
The Pirates will go for a rare sweep of Milwaukee Thursday with a 12:35 p.m. start.
