Butler Eagle File Photo
Days on the waves of Lake Arthur at Moraine State Park remain a county resident go-to to beat summer heat waves.
In this file photo from June 1971, historic attendance was recorded at the park by Eagle staff. In one weekend, the park saw 40,972 visitors, 17,776 of them swimming.
According to an article from June 28, 1971, county swimming areas such as Alameda Park and Connoquenessing Creek also were getting a lot of traffic.
Though summer is nearing its end, there still are opportunities to cool off in the month of August. The Moraine State Park Regatta can enjoyed by all who visit the park this weekend.
