Geraldine Marie Jones Sidley

Geraldine Marie Jones Sidley, 90, of Grove City passed away at her residence on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019.

She was born Nov. 12, 1929, in Springfield Township, Mercer County, to Anthony “Todd” Ellsworth Jones and Sarah Elizabeth “Lizzy” Atkinson Jones.

She married Delton Arthur Sidley on Jan. 24, 1948, and he preceded her in death on June 22, 2010.

Geraldine was a graduate of Grove City High School.

She worked as a nurse’s aide at Grove Manor and Orchard Manor, both of Grove City.

She was a member of the Grove City Alliance Church for over 50 years, and was a member of the adult Sunday school class of the church.

She was a past member of the General Hugh Mercer Daughters of the American Revolution. She and her husband had enjoyed attending gospel and country music concerts and family vacations.

Upon her recent 90th birthday, she had hoped to receive 90 birthday cards. She received over 300. She said it was the best birthday she ever had.

Survivors include her son, Robert A. (Claudia J.) Sidley of Greensburg; her daughters, Connie L. (Kenneth G.) Knoblespease of Grove City and Dorothy E. (John L.) Cress of Stoneboro, Pa.; a grandson, John M. (Shannon L.) Cress; her granddaughters, Geri Lynn (Jason D.) Smith and Lisa Ann (Joseph R. III) Speece; and five great-grandchildren, Joey R., Rob J. and Kate J. Speece, Jaiden E. Cress and Elliott Delton Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, William, Walter, James, and an infant brother, Robert; and a sister, Edith Kristyak.

SIDLEY — Friends of Geraldine Marie Jones Sidley, who died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Smith Funeral Home, 1778 Perry Hwy., Leesburg.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Renicks and Pastor Edward Dixon of the Grove City Alliance Church presiding.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.
